Nearly 25 parishioners participated in the Mapping the Ground We Stand On reconciliation education workshop on Saturday, June 20. We learned about the Doctrine of Discovery and how the concept of terra nullius, or empty land, shaped our colonial history.
We acknowledged the First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities of northern Turtle Island. We walked onto the map, following our own ancestral story.
We explored ways to take action to further the paths of reconciliation, and for the creation of a better and more just country for all of us.
Thank you to Alongside Hope for facilitating this thought-provoking exercise.
