Starting August 16 and then every 3rd Sunday of the month, St. Peter's will be offering a Christian education session following the 10:00 AM service at 11:30 AM. Lunch will be provided at each session.
The next session is on September 20 at 11:30 AM on "The Doctrine of Discovery", with the Reverend Theo Robinson. Doctrine of Discovery: Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts is a feature-length film (a little over one hour long) that explores the lasting impact of the Doctrine of Discovery, a set of fifteenth-century papal rulings that declared lands outside Europe to be "empty" and Indigenous Peoples to be less than fully human. These ideas shaped the legal and moral framework of colonization and continue to influence laws, poloies and relationships in Canada today.
